Mara Venn is a resident of Terran Reach whose family history connects the colony’s early generations with the people living under its mature technological systems. Her visits to the Museum of Departures and conversations with her granddaughter anchor the Chronicles’ history in ordinary memory rather than official archives alone.
As the defense network activated during the returning fleet’s approach, Mara observed the sudden transformation of familiar civic spaces into sites of fear and shelter. Her questions about automation, public statements, and the limits of what people know remain central to the human perspective of the opening war.
