ARMAMENT

  1. 01Rotary nose cannonSpools up, then sweeps a dense tracer stream across the battlefield.
  2. 02Heavy batteriesTwo twin-barrel batteries firing rocket-assisted HE shells.
  3. 03Flak mountsTwo quad mounts. Timed airbursts detonate at marked points around you.
  4. 04Missile racksTwo racks firing ripples of eight missiles. Each can be shot down.
  5. 05Defensive turretsFour twin turrets with light covering fire.

BEHAVIOUR

  1. 01Break the guns off itEvery weapon is its own target. Destroying one stops that attack for good. The defensive turrets do not count toward the criticals.
  2. 02Attack runsOnce angry it makes strafing attack runs across the battlefield.
  3. 03Crippled propulsionLosing one engine pod makes it list and drift. With both gone it wobbles and can no longer make clean runs.
  4. 04Five criticalsEach VECTOR milestone strikes a different system: fire control, magazine, propulsion, reactor casing, reactor heart.

TACTICAL

Break the guns that hurt you most first. When armour blows off a critical, line up and land the VECTOR strike.

ENGAGEMENT

  1. 01Wall of lead: destroy two major guns — nose cannon, batteries, flak or racks — then VECTOR the exposed fire control.
  2. 02Angry fortress: survive its strafing runs and destroy two more major guns. VECTOR the magazine to cook it off.
  3. 03Cripple the propulsion: destroy both engine pods, then VECTOR the propulsion manifold.
  4. 04It refuses to die: VECTOR the reactor casing to rupture it, then strike the reactor heart.

SYSTEMS

  1. 01Rotary nose cannonA seven-barrel rotary cannon in the nose. It spools up before every stream.
  2. 02Heavy batteriesTwin-barrel casemates on the wing roots.
  3. 03Flak mountsTwo rotating quad flak mounts on the wings.
  4. 04Missile racksTwo eight-cell missile racks on the wings.
  5. 05Defensive turretsFour twin turrets: one on each wingtip, two on the spine.
  6. 06Engine podsTwo engine pods on the aft hull. They can only be destroyed once you set out to cripple its propulsion.
  7. 07ReactorThe armoured reactor in the aft hull: its casing and its heart are the last two VECTOR targets.

ORDNANCE

  1. 01Rocket-assisted shellA heavy HE shell from the batteries, trailing flame and thick smoke.
  2. 02Flak roundA timed round that airbursts at its marked point.
  3. 03Fortress missileFired in ripples of eight with a slight corkscrew. One hit destroys it.
  4. 04Rotary tracerOne round of the rotary cannon's tracer stream.
